at a ladder, trying to make it wrap around a rung in order to score a point.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1289\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1289\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0572.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1289\" title=\"100_0572\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0572-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Sunset over Houghton Lake\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1289\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunset over Houghton Lake<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the evening we linked up with the Serafini clan to sit by the water, light a small fire, and chat.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1291\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1291\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0580.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1291\" title=\"100_0580\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0580-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Those are expert canoe paddlers if I've ever seen them!\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1291\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Those are expert canoe paddlers if I&#039;ve ever seen them!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Day 10 began with a canoe trip for three hours on the Au Sable River. \u00a0(I&#8217;ve seen this spelled a couple of different ways, but I think this is correct.) \u00a0We rented two canoes from Campbell&#8217;s rental. \u00a0Then I drove down stream and parked the car where we were supposed to terminate our trip. \u00a0The owners brought me back to the start point. \u00a0We canoed for three hours, then just pulled our canoes out of the water for them to retrieve later.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1292\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1292\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0588.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1292\" title=\"100_0588\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0588-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Tom and Sam paddling down the Au Sable\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tom and Sam paddling down the Au Sable<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The canoe trip was quite pleasant. \u00a0This porting of the river, where it passes through Roscommon, MI, is not virgin wilderness. \u00a0Most of our trip was through &#8220;residential&#8221; areas where we were passing behind cabins and houses. \u00a0Other parts of the trip were through untouched woods. \u00a0I enjoyed that more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0608.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1293\" title=\"100_0608\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0608-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Through our entire, three-hour trip, we never saw another canoe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1294\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1294\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0597.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1294\" title=\"100_0597\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0597-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Sam wading across the Au Sable\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1294\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sam wading across the Au Sable<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The water on the river is very clear. \u00a0Since it was between a few inches and three feet deep most of the way, you could clearly see the bottom. \u00a0We saw very few fish. \u00a0At one point we stopped to have a snack. \u00a0While the water was chilly, it was warm enough to wade across its depth. \u00a0Here the water was only about six inches deep.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1298\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1298\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0619.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1298\" title=\"100_0619\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0619-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"The pro going for another &quot;hole in six&quot;\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1298\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The pro going for another &quot;hole in six&quot;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After our canoe trip, we went back to the resort to relax. \u00a0Candy and the kids played in the water a bit. \u00a0I read for a while and took a nap. \u00a0After dinner we linked back up with Clan Serafini for miniature golf. \u00a0We had ten players and divided up into two teams: guys vs. girls.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1296\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1296\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0614.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1296\" title=\"100_0614\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0614-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"The &quot;loser&quot; girls' team\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1296\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The &quot;loser&quot; girls&#039; team: Mia, Sammy, Tammy, Angie, and Candy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The course was old and challenging. \u00a0While we&#8217;re used to twos and threes on most holes on other courses, fours and fives were more common on this course.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1297\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1297\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0615.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1297\" title=\"100_0615\" src=\"http:\/\/bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/100_0615-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"The &quot;winner&quot;
