the line of march back to Boston from Concord<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The real highlight, however, is Concord. \u00a0They&#8217;ve reconstructed the North Bridge. \u00a0The visitor&#8217;s center (which is not nearly as nice or informative as the Minute Man one) is on the site where MAJ Buttrick had moved his men to better see the bridge and downtown Concord. \u00a0A student intern gave a very good talk near the bridge about the fighting at Concord.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_668\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-668\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0670.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-668\" title=\"100_0670\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0670-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Reconstruction of the North Bridge in Concord\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-668\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reconstruction of the North Bridge in Concord, where the &quot;Shot Heard Round the World&quot; occurred<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_669\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-669\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0672.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-669\" title=\"100_0672\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0672-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Monument at Concord near the North Bridge\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-669\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Monument at Concord near the North Bridge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I really enjoyed this visit, which rekindled my interest in the American Revolution. \u00a0Next time my friend Nick attends the Lexington and Concord re-enactment, I might see if his unit has some extra stuff they can loan me so that I could participate. \u00a0I might also like to drag Dave up here to run the 16-mile trail from Concord to Boston.<\/p>\n<p>From Concord we headed to Southwest Harbor, on Mount Desert Island, ME, not far from Bar Harbor. \u00a0It was supposed to be a five-hour drive, but it took over seven, mostly due to really bad traffic around Boston and along the border of New Hampshire and Maine. \u00a0Once we checked into our hotel, just outside Acadia National Park, we went to dinner. \u00a0This Summer while on his week-long cruise with the boy scouts on Chesapeake Bay, Tommy had his first crab. \u00a0Since we are in Maine, Candy and Tommy had 1-1\/2-pound lobsters. \u00a0Sammy was creeped out by Tommy&#8217;s lobster &#8220;staring at her&#8221;
