the nicest on the island, I think &#8212; it was overcast. \u00a0When we came out it was pouring. \u00a0Nevertheless, we went up to the top of Cadillac Mountain hoping the rain would subside and we&#8217;d be able to see some of the views from there. \u00a0The rain never subsided. \u00a0We went down into Bar Harbor for lunch with the idea of returning to the mountain afterward, but it was still raining hard, so we declared defeat and headed toward Moosehead Lake.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_693\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-693\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0767.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-693\" title=\"100_0767\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0767-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Chalet Moosehead in Greeneville, ME\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-693\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chalet Moosehead in Greeneville, ME<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We stayed in a small motel on the lake&#8217;s edge in Greeneville, ME. \u00a0While the proprietors were not very personable, we like the hotel. \u00a0It had a small kitchenette and a beautiful view out the back window. \u00a0We went to the local grocery store and stocked up for two nights.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_695\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-695\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0776.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-695\" title=\"100_0776\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0776-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"View out the picture window of your room\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-695\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View out the picture window of your room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We made quesadillas for dinner in our room and then settled down to some serious dominoes action. \u00a0We had a 0500 wakeup for the next morning, so we called it an early night.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_696\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-696\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0777.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-696\" title=\"100_0777\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_0777-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Dominoes Death Match\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-696\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dominoes Death Match<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We began our last day in Acadia National Park with a quick trip to the Bass Harbor Light House. \u00a0It was only about two miles from our hotel. \u00a0A short walk down a trail and a long set of stairs took us to the rocks below the light house where we took these photos. \u00a0The &hellip;
