Killington Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_1006.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-759\" title=\"100_1006\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_1006-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today was a bit of a slow day, picture-wise. \u00a0My digital camera has been acting squirrelly lately. \u00a0Today it ate about half my pictures from the walk around Leffert&#8217;s Pond. \u00a0I&#8217;ve liked this Kodak; it&#8217;s been a good camera. \u00a0It looks like it&#8217;s days are numbered, however. \u00a0I don&#8217;t suppose digital cameras can even be repaired.<\/p>\n<p>I began the day with a six-mile run, which seemed to be all uphill. \u00a0There WAS one stretch of a mile and half uphill that was pretty difficult. \u00a0We had a nice breakfast, featuring freshly made blueberry pancakes, at the hotel. \u00a0(Blueberries seem to be the only thing I like that&#8217;s actually good for me!)<\/p>\n<p>Then we were off for a hike.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-758\" style=\"width: 491px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_10151.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-758  \" title=\"100_1015\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_10151-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"View of the reservoir near Leffert's Pond\" width=\"491\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of the reservoir near Leffert&#039;s Pond<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Near Mt. Killington is Leffert&#8217;s Pond. \u00a0It was a nice walk past lakes and streams. \u00a0At one point the trail split and we headed off in what we thought was the right direction. \u00a0(It turned out we WERE correct.) \u00a0The trail brought us through some marshy areas, which involved gingerly skirting the edges of morasses. \u00a0We had thought the hike was supposed to be &#8220;easy,&#8221; so we didn&#8217;t wear proper shoes. \u00a0Despite that, it was a very enjoyable hike.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_755\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-755\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_1005.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-755\" title=\"100_1005\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/100_1005-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Leffert's Pond\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-755\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leffert&#039;s Pond<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to beat these kinds of views!<\/p>\n<p>After our walk around Leffert&#8217;s Pond, we headed to Pico Mountain ski resort. \u00a0They have an Alpine Slide, which is like a dry, warm bobsled ride. \u00a0You sit in little plastic sleds and then careen down the side of a mountain through fiberglass troughs at high speed with little control. \u00a0It&#8217;s great fun. \u00a0You take the ski lift to the top, where you grab a sled and slide down the mountain. \u00a0In addition Candy and the kids did a bungee cord trampoline thing, and we all played miniature golf. \u00a0After five or six runs down the mountain, we called it a day and headed down the highway to Connecticut to our hotel. \u00a0Tomorrow we&#8217;re going to spend the day at Six Flags New England.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_757\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-757\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/115_0092.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-757\" title=\"115_0092\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/115_0092-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"Chair lift at Pico Mountain Advenatures\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-757\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chair lift at Pico Mountain Adventures<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was a bit of a slow day, picture-wise. \u00a0My digital camera has been acting squirrelly lately. \u00a0Today it ate about half my pictures from the walk around Leffert&#8217;s Pond. \u00a0I&#8217;ve liked this Kodak; it&#8217;s been a good camera. \u00a0It looks like it&#8217;s days are numbered, however. \u00a0I don&#8217;t suppose digital cameras can even be &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bucksurdu.com\/bucksblog\/2011\/08\/13\/2011-vacation-day-fourteen-mt-killington-area\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">2011 Vacation: Day Fourteen: Mt.
